To Tweeze or not to tweeze

published under sweet advice on December 2nd 2024

We have all been there. We grabbed the metal torturing prongs and gone for it. Well, did you even know there is a right and a wrong way to do it? Do you just grab that wee brut? – The one that you have been gently stroking at the checkout or your desk, yes that one? Or do you just leave it?

If you are unable to resist, that spike just has to go, then make sure you pull the skin either side of the area. Pull with two fingers. Get the tweezer right at the base of that hair, as near to the root as you can get, without giving yourself a nasty pinch and make sure you use a good magnifying mirror! Grab it right at the base and pull, towards the direction the hair is heading, where it is growing towards…tadah…it’s out

Often if it is pulled out any old way, there is a high chance of a hair breakage and also that black dot and there is less chance of damaging the hair follicle too, a successful spike is removed. Often you can cause a raised circle under the skin, like a teeny weeny frog spawn, the little black dot in the middle, you want to lance it, but it’s just too deep.

If you take your time you will be rewarded with that “yes” moment, like when “Harry met Sally” and you hold the tweezers up to the light, checking it’s out, yes, root an all, all gone. Until next time, yeah, it will grow back and you can play with it all over again.
