That ingrowing hair!
She got it!
“Do you know how long I have been trying to get that out” … a very common statement at Sugarflick. We see many and we get many out! Waxing, shaving, plucking, and epilating can often make ingrowing hairs worse.
Not all hair removal is always 100%, we are all individuals after all. What works for you may not work for someone else, but with sugar, there is a small chance, if at all, that this will even happen. Most of our clients who have Brazilians or Hollywoods say that the ingrown hairs has never returned.
When growing back, hairs can sometimes decide to take a different route and bury themselves along the surface of your skin or right back down the wrong way. Your body will treat it as a foreign object and trigger an inflammation response. This can lead to redness, swelling, and or pain until it is removed.

You can see here the different directions of hair growth. So why do they ingrow? Waxing can break off hairs, tweezering too, and not forgetting the good old shave, this can most certainly cause this issue.
The hairs are blunt from the blade, the skin may be dry or too oily and down they grow. If they have broken off at the surface from a wax or a tweezer attempt, the same issue, they can start to misbehave.
Some may grow along under the skin surface, and you can see them, but you cannot get them. We call these the pencil lines. You may well try yourself, not recommended! Your tweezers or fingers are no rubber! You may have a good old go without gloves or not clean the area beforehand, which will allow bacteria to enter, making matters worse!
So put the scalpel down and ask us next time you come in to have a look if you have any misbehaving hairs! We are not doctors, but we see this a lot with new clients, and on most occasions, we can get them out. If we cannot, we can recommend ways that have worked for other clients.
