Sugarflick – a personal journey
How Sugarflick start?
In 2005 I trained in the ancient art of sugaring in Leeds with an Egyptian lady named Nagwa Stanforth. She was also a nurse and is often described as the original sugaring guru. I am proud to have trained with her.
I had been sugared in Southampton when I was in my late 20’s, it was a thing done by folk in their spare room, but no salons offered it back then. I was privileged to be given work experience in London, immediately after I was trained.
Having worked in various jobs over the years in Southampton, London, and Paris, I found myself at a crossroads. Sick of pest control, tired of insurance, bored of inputting data, worn out with criminal justice, and fed up with office politics, a career change was on the horizon. Having discovered the wonderful world of hair removal in London I began a new career in sugaring from home at first.
And so it began
After a lot of research, I found there was still no such place able to do a decent female Brazilian in Southampton, at least nothing close to my experiences in London, also no place seemed to welcome men. Having been spoiled living in the big city, I felt my hometown needed a sugaring place too so with bags packed, I moved back to Southampton to have a bash at starting something in my hometown.
20 years on, Sugarflick is still going, and we have moved to Chandler’s Ford.

Simon Murphy of Urban Wellbeing, Soho, London, thought up the name Sugarflick. Both Simon and Sean Miller, gave me valuable work experience in Soho in 2005. Simon sadly passed away in July 2016 and I am forever grateful for his positive attitude and support, we miss him dearly. the funniest man I ever met for sure.
A huge thank you, respect, and appreciation go to Prisca Schmarsow of Eyedea Studio, my web designer and believer since the very beginning. Prisca also made a website for our product the Top Lip Kit, this is now all under Sugarflick
